Hornschuch – True Style and Comfort

With surfaces that meet the highest design standards, the Hornschuch Group contributes to a traditional or modern, but always exclusive ambience in the contract area, especially in the hotel and gastronomy sector. High-quality and versatile skai® upholstery and wall-covering materials impress both indoors and out as they are both durable and easy to care for. Upholstered headboards, comfortable seating furniture or uncovered areas on the wall are just some of the numerous applications for the innovative material.

Current references in the hospitality sector comprise the Kameha Grand in Zurich, the Ritz-Carlton, Mellenia in Singapore and the Barceló Raval in Barcelona. For the end customer Hornschuch produces and markets designer and functional films under the d-c-fix® brand. Under the skai® brand, Hornschuch also supplies films and coated substrate materials for the automotive, furniture, marine and construction industry. By using the resulting synergy effects, Hornschuch is able to consolidate its strengths. Fascinating and functional surfaces are the common denominator.

Designed to be a Winner

There was a time when artificial leather was just merely imitating the real one. Nowadays, the race is run, with skai® artificial leather having already achieved the status of excellence. So the surface specialist Hornschuch reached out for more. Aiming for “surfaces that touch” designers created an amazing original, a material with no natural reference. It is called skai® Tolaris EN. The optical illusion of the extraordinary upholstery material equally enchants and fascinates with a striking, three-dimensional effect of depth. The impression of the surface changes depending upon the viewing angle and lighting. The innovative material is available in 11 trendy colours. It is ideal for upholstery applications like seating furniture, headboards, and walls. Jury members of renowned awards called it a favorite. skai® Tolaris EN was named Interior Innovation Award – Winner 2015 and won the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2015 and the Materialica Design+Technology Award 2015 – in GOLD.

Let it shine!

Today’s society places various demands to modern upholstery synthetics. skai® scores in the exclusive living and contract area. Through characteristic surfaces and a wide product range skai® is gaining popularity in the hotel and hospitality industries: Whether for seating in the lobby, on walls in bars, or on headboards in bedrooms – skai® is at home anywhere. One example is skai® Tokio EN. Opposing grinding marks created by highly precise laser engraving meet on the surface and give the innovative material a technical-dynamic look. The fine and elegant material takes the metallic trend to its pinnacle. During the last twelve months skai® Tokio EN was honoured with the Interior Innovation Award – Selection 2015, German Design Award – Winner 2016, and the materialPREIS 2016. Outstanding features such as design, durability, and ease of care go without saying. This is even true for special applications: skai® is number one.

A Surface that tells a Story

skai® Pavinto is a high-quality upholstery material with a stylish cowhide look which appears to show strong signs of wear. Fractures and optical signs of wear, as well as the varied grain, contribute to the authentic appearance of the vintage look. It is a surface which has seemingly undergone many experiences and on which time appears to have left its mark. Through the alternating coarse and fine grain, the dark and light areas, the surface appears to be warm and alive. With its pleasantly soft feel and the fine gloss of its tips, skai® Pavinto perfectly resembles the natural product on which it is based. skai® Pavinto gives furniture such as sofas or armchairs the charm of antiques, refining the sophisticated living space. Also in a lounge, hotel lobby or bar, skai® Pavinto provides an exclusive atmosphere.

Rapture of the Deep

The extravagant material skai® Soshagro EN creates particularly exclusive highlights in a manta ray look and is therefore ideally suited for use on standard chairs or armchairs in the lobby or restaurant. In rooms and suites, upholstered headboards or comfortable seating furniture are predestined applications for the high-quality material. The inspiration for skai® Soshagro EN comes from the depths of the ocean. The high-quality material stands out with its appearance of a manta ray. Like the skin of its role model, the surface is characterised by a filigree, uneven structure.
