Alexander James International has recently completed concept designs for the new Doubletree Hotel currently under construction as part of the Galleria Leisure Complex located in central Minsk.
The hotel, operated by Hilton, will sit atop the 46,000sqft Luxury Galleria Mall and provide the development with 195 beautifully appointed guestrooms looking out over the city. Alongside the property’s numerous guestrooms and suites are a number of stylish bars, restaurants and conference rooms catering to both hotel guests and local residents.
The Art Deco style found in the local historic buildings provides key influences on the interior design. With the eclectic styles combining traditional craft motifs with the machine age, which link to the strong industrial identity of Belarus with motifs from the past. Natural materials and patterns have been applied in a 21st century way to produce a distinctive design with a sense of place.
Guestrooms have a contemporary feel with detail harking back to the 1920’s and 30’s, bronze and dark timber finishes abound with deep burnished stone cladding to bathrooms enhancing the luxury feel of each room. The design team at AJI have taken great care to address every aspect of the design to maintain the themes and quality inherent in a property at this level.
As a counterpoint to the full height glazing provided by the buildings exterior cladding system a dark and brooding design scheme sets the overall tone; providing guests with a welcoming sense of warmth and comfort. As many of the properties food & beverage outlets are located on the seventh floor of the new twenty storey hotel tower, the extensive terraces break out onto the mall’s roof space providing additional garden space for guests to enjoy.
Alongside the typical collection of amenities to be found within a Doubletree property the Galleria’s developers have introduced a stunning entertaining space located high above the city skyline. The Sky Bar provides secluded alcoves located around the perimeter of the twentieth floor, making use of low level lighting so as not to interfere with the views.
The concept design has recently been chosen for review by Hilton Worldwide as part of their ongoing oversight programme and produced a favourable response from the Global Design Services Team. The property is currently on programme to open in early 2015.
