Speciality & Fine Food Fair Preview – Serving the Hospitality Sector for Twenty Years

Registration is now open for the 20th edition of UK’s leading showcase of artisan food and drink. Speciality & Fine Food Fair will open its doors at Olympia from 1-3 September.

There’s everything that anyone involved in the industry – chefs, restauranteurs, bar managers, caterers and café owners – could want from a day of discovery. This includes an impressive line-up of more than 700 premium food and drink producers. Disrupter brands and more established names within the sector will be revealing their latest launches, giving visitors the opportunity to sample new products and identify the trends that will be shaping menus over the coming months.

 

Discovery, Discovery, Discovery

One of the standout features of the Fair is the vibrant ‘Discovery Zone’ where visitors can seek out forward-thinking brands.  Here you’ll find products ranging from West African hot sauces from Fula Flavour (stand 4963) to free from bakery from Positive Kitchen (stand 5012). This dedicated area features some 200 start-up producers, who have traded in the UK for less than 36 months.

 

Raise a Glass

Capitalising on the booming beverage market, the ‘Drinks Cabinet’ makes its second appearance at the show.  This space offers the opportunity to meet mixologists and discover food and drink pairings – with the added benefit of a well-stocked bar!

Gin and rum feature heavily – including Bright Spirits’ (stand 3304) range of naturally distilled gins, and a convenient cocktail solution in Pinkster Gin Jam Cocktail Mix (stand 3409) made from a by-product of its signature raspberry-infused gin. Sisserou (stand 4961) present a blended Rum & Coconut Cream Liqueur, whilst new brand Redvulette (stand 4636) introduce a lower ABV concept – Redvulette Rum Punch – an authentic white rum blended with fresh topical juices.

At the other end of the spectrum Myatt’s Fields Cocktails introduce a dozen potent barrel aged infusions (stand 3410). Premium mixers also make an appearance, with innovative brands including Lixir Tonics (stand 4702 DZ), Jeffrey’s Tonic (stand 4945) and /shrb – the ‘Prohibition’ soda (stand 4572).

Traditional beers and ciders are given some added oomph with newcomers such as the gluten free, hop infused Binary Botanical (stand 4806) and Scruffy Dog Cider (stand 4959)

 

Snack Attack

The burgeoning snack market is also represented by products such as Shøre’s Scottish seaweed puff snacks (stand 4542) and Made for Drink (stand 4570) premium range which includes Duck Fritons and Patacones Plantain Chips.

 

Fascinating Insight

Each year, event organisers, Fresh Montgomery, curate the ‘Food for Thought’ speaker programme – pulling together a notable line up of successful entrepreneurs and industry experts to share their experiences and predictions for the sector. This year, visitors can hear from business owners and leading authorities on how to stay one step ahead in hospitality.

Cooking up a storm

The Fair not only showcases new products, it also delivers a fascinating insight into incorporating innovative flavours and introducing new dishes to your menu. The ever popular ‘Savour the Flavour’ theatre has a diverse schedule of live cookery demonstrations lined up.

Hosted by the exuberant chef consultant, Steve Walpole, this lively stage will help expand your repertoire. Throughout the three days, Steve will be joined by industry-leading chefs and specialists to create inventive dishes utilising new products from the show. There’s also a focus on the latest food trends, including Seagreens; Decreasing Food Waste; The Versatility of Meat Alternatives; a Plant Based Special; and a Spotlight on Gut Health. Expect non-stop action and commentary from the team, as they share their insider tips and forecasts.

In response to visitor demand, Speciality & Fine Food Fair is expanding its international offering, welcoming new International Pavilions representing producers from Belgium (Flanders and Wallonia), Mexico in partnership with MexGrocer and Gveongnam Trading, as well as showcasing speciality food from South Korea. These new pavilions will appear alongside long-standing contributors such as France, Brazil, Italy, Spain and many more.
